Lautrec, Odet de Foix, viscount de

(1485-1528)
   marshal of France
Odet de Foix, viscount de Lautrec followed King louis xii to Italy, where he served as governor of the Milanese region (1526). He was, however, driven out because of his cruelty. He had been defeated at the Battle of La Bicoque, or Bicocca (1522) and, after the French loss at Pavia (1525), took revenge by pillaging that town. He died during the siege of Naples. Lautrec's career had been advanced by his sister, the countess de Châteaubriand, who was the mistress of King francis i.
